Aztec boys learned how to fight at school and usually had their taste of battle as an assistant to a warrior. All men over the age of seventeen were expected to fight in a war. Some of their weapons had obsidian blades on them, (like the image above) Which was very sharp. They were very effective and could get the job done, but they were no match for the Spaniards and their advanced weapons and armor. For entertainment the Aztecs played a game with a ball called tlachtli or pot-a-tok. The Aztecs also had soldiers called eagle nights which were pretty much a high ranking officer in the Aztec army. Aztecs dressed up as animals because they believed that dressing up like that animal would give them the power of that animal. The Aztecs also had many enemy tribes so it made hard to survive, espically when Spain arrived because Spain made alliances with many of the tribes to help them defeat the Aztecs. Aztec dress was often made of beautiful fabric, though the quality of the cloth was dependent on the wealth and class of the wearer. The art of clothes making was an important craft of the Aztecs and contained bright colors and complicated designs.
